I love food – thinking about it, shopping for it, preparing it, and of course, eating it! Being from a mixed ethnic background, I was exposed to a wide variety of foods from a very young age. I was also well-traveled as a child and very lucky to have experienced many different cuisines. I absolutely credit my love of food and all things culinary to this exposure.
It wasn’t until late in high school that I began to get interested in the actual cooking of food. It started simple, making dinners of pasta and the like with friends. By college, I got a little bit more sophisticated and realized that nothing about the kitchen really intimidated me. I would eat things in restaurants and see things on television and immediately figure out a way to re-create it.
In recent years, I haven’t had time to indulge in this hobby as much as I would have liked due to working a full time job, running a family business and parenting two young children. I am no longer working outside of the home and while life is still crazy and hectic, I do have more time now to indulge in this hobby. I am by no means a gourmet chef, just a gal who likes to find her way around the kitchen. I love simple, comfort foods but I will also never shy away from making something elaborate.
Along with my originals, this blog will include a collection of recipes that I have collected from friends, family, cookbooks and websites. I hope you enjoy embarking on this journey with me!
